rsync backup via samba

Is it possible to backup data from a samba share to a server and "pauses" when the samba share goes offline and resumes it as soon it get's turned on again?
Is there an existing utility/script for rsync (or another cli backup utility) to do that?
If not is there an efficient way to watch when a pc is turned on or off?
Sorry for my english...

Re: rsync backup via samba

Here is the script I use to rsync a Windows machine to my file server... It's not automated, but it might provide a good starting base for you smile
