Re: Humble Indie Bundle 4

dang it, got the deb untared and I still get the same errors >_<

EDIT: I have a feeling this may be because of the open source ati drivers.  I'm not near that box now, I will test this out later.

Earlier I said I got shank working on my box..that was with my desktop and with nvidia.  My laptop runs ati and I am getting the same problem as you gregmits.  Did you ever find a way around this?

No mate, still waiting. Indeed it's probably a problem with opensource ati drivers.

I don't know if this is helpful, but to get NightSky running, I installed the lib32-mesa package (it was complaining about missing libGLU). Then, to get GSB running, I installed lib32-nvidia-utils. (On another computer with ATI, I didn't install nvidia-utils, obviously, and it worked.) To get Jamestown running after that, I installed libpng12. All 3 are running nicely on x86_64. I installed them without PKGBUILDs, just straight from the download archives.

lib32-nvidia-utils fixed my problem with shank! now it runs but no sound... how can i fix this? more 32bit drivers? =/

I installed supermeatboy via AUR this time, still the same error. 64bit, intel graphics, anybody got this?

AL lib: pulseaudio.c:612: Context did not connect: Access denied

Fatal Error: MojoShader compile failed!

Re: Humble Indie Bundle 4

The MojoShader error disappeared after I recompiled mesa with the "--disable-asm"-option, as documented here.

Re: Humble Indie Bundle 4

Anyone else having problems with bit.trip.runner? Running Arch x64.

# ./bit.trip.runner
<lots of opengl stuff here, but no obvious errors>
Fatal error
resource: directory not found for Shaders/error.aeshader

Same thing happens if I use the install script.

While we're on the topic, when trying to enter a room in the Plantation level in CaveStory+:

Loading file: Stage/lounge.pxm
  (Could not find!)
Loading file: Stage/lounge.pxe
  (Could not find!)
Loading file: Head.tsc
Loading file: Stage/lounge.tsc
  (Could not find!)

(then the game exits)

I also get some weird GLX error when running Shank, but I'll have to post that later.

Any ideas? I really, REALLY want to like what the Humble Bundle is doing, but the fact that these don't work is making that difficult (and none of the Linux builds worked for me when it was released).

Figured this out one (but why?!): rename base/Stage/Lounge.* to lounge.*

I am using a nvidia geforce 8300GS with nvidia-285.05.09

Could it be that my card is not powerull enough ? the system requirements talks about shader model 3

I also get some weird GLX error when running Shank, but I'll have to post that later.

X Error of failed request: GLXUnsupportedPrivateRequest
Major opcode of failed request: 135 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 16 (X_GLXVendorPrivate)
Serial number of failed request: 34
Current serial number in output stream: 35

Fixed: Install the lib32-nvidia-utils-beta package (for x64).

Re: Humble Indie Bundle 4

I always have issue playing games fullscreen with DWM, screen is black and I just hear the soundtrack. Tips?
Also: GSB was fine yesterday but today it fails with this message: intel_do_flush_locked failed: Input/output error → I'm using xf86-video-intel-git, mesa-git

Play in windowed mode, but disable the bar(s). Also, make the game window the only open window on that tag or set the window mode to maximize. Some games won't resize to fullscreen, but quite a few will. You could always just have xfce or something ready just for gaming.

Re: Humble Indie Bundle 4

I'm having issues with a bunch of games getting split between my desktops in fullscreen mode, but that's because I have it configured as a single desktop to allow drag and drop without using xinerama.

So far I've only tried Super Meat Boy and Jamestown, both of which run as of the AUR packages yesterday. Jamestown, however, has no sound under 64 bit Arch and PulseAudio with no errors or warnings on the command line. Anyone else get this?

I'm having the same issue running bit trip runner in 64bit using ATI's proprietary drivers. I do not think this is because it's not powerful enough. Does anyone have a fix for this yet? I feel like I have installed every package possible to try and fix this. Please help smile

Re: Humble Indie Bundle 4

I play bit trip runner perfectly fine with an intel G45, so it's definitely not an "power" issue

Re: Humble Indie Bundle 4

For running SuperMeatBoy with a mesa driver just compile mesa with --disable-asm or a bit easier check this out

Thank you !
It has solved my issue with:

ALSA lib dlmisc.c:236:(snd1_dlobj_cache_get) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib32/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so

Re: Humble Indie Bundle 4

Has anyone gotten somewhat decent performance in Bit.Trip Runner with a GMA 945? Under Windows, I get great performance with this, but under Linux it gets way too slow to be playable (~5-10 FPS). Maybe there is a settings file or comand line options that can be used?

Nope. The Linux Intel drivers are actually that bad.

I fixed this by downloading these files: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42853625/Temp/lounge.zip

Renamed them all lower-case, then put them in /opt/CaveStoryPlus/data/base/Stage

Is there anyone who got Shank running on an intel GPU? I'm on 32bit arch with a shitty Intel card. I seem to get a black screen,i see half of the health bar and i do hear sound.

Re: Humble Indie Bundle 4

Intel cards are not supported in Shank. And I think you need at least OpenGL 3.0, which is not available for the open source drivers.
