Problems with networkmanager in XFCE + connecting to Uni network

Hello all,

I don't usually post on the forums but smtp servers and IRC are banned on my University network.

I'm having two extremely frustrating issue with networkmanager in XFCE.

1.  Constantly having to enter the root password.  Whenever a wireless network changes I get a 'System policy prevents...' message and have to enter the root password.  When I enter the root password authentication fails.  I have to login as root to change network settings.

2.  I also am having serious problems connecting to my University's wireless network.  It runs WPA with PEAP authentication.  It asks me for the password 3 times, even though the correct one is saved and then fails to connect.

I'm using a Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network card on Arch x86-64 that is completely up to date.  I'd very much like to get these issues sorted out as they are driving me crazy.  I can however connect to my WPA2-AES network at home with no problems.

Can't help with the WPA PEAP thing, but the constantly having to enter a password is solved here:
