Re: Compiz standalone screenshots

compiz.th.png

I use lxde with a tiny "always on top" lxpanel.

I use compiz because:

  • lxpanel doesn't do true transparency so compiz makes the panel translucent

  • I like window shadows, but not on tootips

  • I like translucent menus

  • I like no window decoration on maximised windows (having set F2 to toggle "window maximize")

  • I love alt-tab for the "ring switcher" or flicking the pointer to the top left for "scale" (no need for a window list in the panel)

  • I love flicking the pointer to the bottom right for "expo" to switch virtual desktops

Re: Compiz standalone screenshots

And obviously, you don't use Compiz standalone. wink

There's a thread for LXDE and for current Screenshots in general

Re: Compiz standalone screenshots

It's getting to be a matter of sematics in my case, I've disabled pcmanfm as the desktop manager and don't use lxde session management, acpid handles power button shutdown and lid close suspend.

Re: Compiz standalone screenshots

I'm new here, just installed Arch this weekend. This is mine:

I was working on setting up terminator to be a wallpaper terminal but I ran into some problems. How do you get compiz to set terminator to stay behind all the other pages? I know it has something to do with windows rules, but I'm not sure how to do it.

Re: Compiz standalone screenshots

@phillyman1025: what are you using for the panel/tray at the top there?

@na12: that's nice. You obviously have a thing for flowers!

Re: Compiz standalone screenshots

Thanks phillyman1025. Well here's mine...
screenshot thumbnail
Cairo-dock at the bottom, xfce4-panel (only) at the top (xfce4 is not installed!) and using Conky for the first time with a script I've cobbled together from others. I was a long time Gkrellm user but I'm liking this Conky setup.

Re: Compiz standalone screenshots

I use Arch since one week so my desktop will most likely change:

Compiz Standalone, Conky, Mate-Panel. Archey says "Xfce" but it's Compiz Standalone. wink

Re: Compiz standalone screenshots

Looking rather simple! (still elegant though wink)

No panels/taskbars?

Yeah idk. I had tint2 going for a bit but couldnt get it to fit in in a way I liked. Besides with compiz's window management plugins I dont need it much.

Nice! If the decoration is Emerald, please share the name of the theme.
