I'll give that a try gonsa, though not sure if that's the problem as I vaguely remember having only NetworkManager installed on my desktop and still having the issue.
Also, upon second thought, I don't think this is related to RaLink at all as my laptop uses the Broadcom bcrms drivers and has the issue also

I had same problem.Removing netcfg and leaving only network manager solved it.If you have it both try it and see.
