[WiFi] Internet slowdown peaks

Hi everyone.

Since some time I get weird internet slowdowns which last some minutes (maximum 5): I can't even access to my router's homepage, or it's terribly slow, online games via wine have horrible lags, downloads break because of to slow rate, and so on... I know that it is not due to my routeur, because those lags don't appear on Windows (with the same machine).

iwconfig says me:

Ah, one of those new rtl8192 dongles. I got one of those tiny ones with an external antenna. and their driver is.... horrible and crash prone.

Canned mine for one that has a proper mac80211 driver which is a lot more stable.

if u are using networkmanager it kinda slow down the connection isntead to disconnect. I got a problem like that in wicd, but my connection dropped down.

ungaminga, bumping is frowned upon here. If you want attention to pe paid to your thread, please add some relevent information on how you are trying to work towards a solution rather than simply an empty post.

Basically, you bought an adapter that just sucks under Linux. The rtl8192* modules jsut don't work very well. No this does not solve your problem, but bumping your thread isn't going to make them work better either. If you search the forums for threads relating to rtl8192, you will find a couple of semi-solutions to your issue. But you need to do some of your own research here. You can't expect other users to google for you.

But i got a Atheros Communications Inc. AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter as i writed above. And yeah, i googled alot of time and there are no solution worked for me. The problem is annoying rly bad.

I think I have the same problem, though I use wicd. It never actually loses the connection, but everything functions as if I wasn't connected and Win7 on my machine and Ubuntu on my laptop both work. My network device is Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter with the ath9k driver, though it doesn't appear that that matters... What other information would be helpful? I'm not sure if I should start a new thread or not based on what WonderWoofy said but I suppose this doesn't hurt...
