Thank you for the quick answer, ijanos and once again thank you all in this thread for the help provided
Now, onto upgrading!

I don't know what you guys are doing, the patched settings daemon's version was 3.4.2 the new one is 3.6.1, pacman upgraded it without any hassle.
If you were running my AUR package, it had hard conflicts / depends so it blocked GNOME 3.6 so you had to knowingly downgrade it.

i've had this issue, too, and I've just updated to GS 3.6, but this introduced many new problems, especially those I describe here https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1184547 . Please beware of this update; has anyone got similar issues with GS 3.6?

Yeah, I've had a few issues.
- Can't reboot without root password
- No audio (unless I add myself to the audio group, which should be unnecessary)
- My logind / loginctl session shows Active=no (probably the cause of all my issues)
Disclaimer: I removed myself from several suggested groups that are now, apparently, not necessary (audio, optical, etc), and also removed consolekit.
Still, got me stumped why some stuff doesn't work as it should.

So Gnome 3.6 "fixed" the issue of this thread. But like mentioned, fixing bugs with Major-Upgrades is very likely to trigger new bugs

This is back for me on Cinnamon after update to Gnome 3.8. My FN and Media buttons stopped working. Anyone else?

Same issue here with Cinnamon and Gnome 3.8 update. I don't use the "FN+some button" keybindings not that often, that's why I didn't realize it sooner.
The same happened to all my custom keybindings, they are not working anymore either. But as mentioned here,
I'm using this workaround until, well, things will hopefully get fixed soon...

I don't have any custom keybindings. The only one I noticed that stopped working so far was ALT-TAB, which I had to re-set under Cinnamon keyboard settings, and worked fine after that. And my laptop has the Sleep using FN-F1, and that's not working, but I suspect it's because the FN key is not working, along with all the media buttons.

Additional my media keys aren't working anymore.

It has been fixed in cinnamon 1.7.4-3:
- gnome-fallback-media-keys-helper is autostarted on login.
- Alt+Tab works again with the default settings. If you still experience this problem, then try to reset these settings:
$ gsettings reset org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings switch-applications
$ gsettings reset org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings switch-windows

It's fixed for me too with the latest upgrade, but I think the package that did the magic is community/gnome-settings-daemon-compat , which got installed with Cinnamon 1.7.4-3.

Ctrl+Fn still cannot work in Xfce 4.10.
