so after the latest update from oss my sound didnt work anymore and it turned out to be a bug in that update as stated here and here. I downgraded the package and everything worked smooth again. However this morning i ran a pacman -Syu as a habit and it updated some packages (not oss, i blacklisted that one offcourse). Now my sound isnt working anymore again. i can start the oss mixer but whatever i do nothing helps. Also i cant run osstest anymore, it says that i cant find the command. Anyone else has this problem, and/or anyone know a solution for this?

Nope, working fine here. Just did an update and everything's fine. Try reinstalling because I can't see a reason why osstest would be missing if everything else works ok for other apps.

I did update for system then downgrade OSS and sound works perfect.

ok so i rolled back to a previous backup because i broke my grub config (I know stupid) and had to do the downgrade oss again but it still doesnt work. i cant open the mixer because i get this error:
/dev/mixer: No such file or directory
and when i try to for example open a youtube video then it crashes. i dont understand why it doesnt work for me but it does for others?

What do you get when you try manually starting oss (typing sudo soundon in terminal)?

i get this when i do soundon:
Previous start of OSS crashed the system
Please resolve the situation and remove file
"/usr/lib/oss/starting". Then start OSS by
running soundon again.
but when i remove that file not only does the problem persist but apperently the file is back when i restart
EDIT: ok so really weird but i deinstalled oss to try alsa again. that didnt work. then i reinstalled oss and now it works but only for my speakers and not for my headset although i have the same settings as with wich it worked earlier. anyone know how to fix?
