Hi, I will need some more help.
I installed gtkam, and my digikam is well detected. It is only usable by root, not by user. No surprise, this is what it is expected to do (although there is no sense in it, isn't it?). I want to change the rigths to make it usable as user. The readme of gtkam / gphoto2 shows no solution, as some scripts are needed that normaly rest inside the /usr/share/doc/gphoto2 folders - but those are striped by makepkg. Hell, furthermore, online documantation of arch is rather weak, I have no idea which tools to use to change user's groups and rights. I am not happy with the "we don't need docs becouse it is all online" paradigm, as online docs are hardly available.
Quest One - Could one help me out tweaking usb usage for users?
Queast Two - How to contribute / push online documentation?
PS: does arch include any package to read / export / print man-pages?

Would be a bad idea, allowing hotplug managing user privileges (besides it has not the power to do that). No, the usb system is doing well, the privileges are default (only root) but I want to use it as a user.

About USB and hotplug : Yes, hotplug can actually change permissions for devices - I just made a package with the exact same problems (a USB device which users would like to access). Fortunately, the package even contained a script how to solve the problem, and I made the package to execute this script upon installation. Now, you could kindly ask the maintainer of gphoto2 to do something similar - or even provide the solution :-) ....
About your very problem : a quick digging through www.gpoto.org :
http://www.gphoto.org/doc/manual/permissions-usb.html
Now the more general problems:
About the documentation, check the documentation forum - hmmm I think you already engaged in some discussion there ;-) ... I guess the best way is to contribute documentation. But then again, it should not be duplicate documentation - and this whole discussion should happen in the right forum :-)
About the man pages :
man -t man > man.ps
produces a PostScript version of the man page of man. If your printer is working, you can try
man -t man | lpr
and you can pick up said man page from your printer.

I've included all the scripts that gphoto2 gives you to configure hotplug based on the page that andy mentioned. I got gphoto2 working by doing exactly that.

OK, will struggle further with it, and post result.
Thanks again.

... worked after I fetched those scripts out of the sources.
Thanks for telling me that it works with arch, I have tried it twice some days before, and it was not working. I think it was my own fault. With "WILL work that way with your distro, stupid" in mind I have done it.
Once again, thanks for your patience, and not trying to stall me by rtfm.
