I saw the new Archlinux arch-announce Digest, Vol 32, Issue 1 today and read through some older topics. There was an announcement on 2013-06-03 by Allan McRae stating that binaries move to /usr/bin. Has this really happened? Or is this done gradually and that is why /bin, /sbin and /lib are still there?

At least at my system this is true so I guess it has happened.
/bin, /sbin and /lib are symlinks to the coresponding folders under /usr
I put at button on it. Yes. I wish to press it, but I'm not sure what will happen if I do. (Gune | Titan A.E.)

https://www.archlinux.org/news/binaries … ervention/ has a link to https://mailman.archlinux.org/pipermail … 22625.html which says
* By symlinking the old directories to /usr/{bin,lib} we keep
backwards compatibility, and also improve our compatibility with
distros that chose to put their binaries in different locations.
