Why do you mean by "custom shortcuts"? There are many different type of shortcuts in KDE: global shortcuts, application shortcuts, plasmoid shortcuts...
Application shortcuts, for example when I create shortcut for konsole it doesn't work...I find this http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.kde.bugs/921623, i got the same problem so i should probably wait for fix...

I've had some problems configuring Dolphin and other KDE4 apps under KF5/Plasma 5. Where can you configure what theme KDE4 apps will use? In the end I just copied the kdeglobals file from .config to .kde4/share/config/ and .kde/share/config . However, surely there is some automagic migration that should happen?
I've also had more minor weirdness with toolbars in both KDE4 and KF5 apps. I can't change the icon size as the only option is 'default'. Also I can't change toolbar icons as the option is greyed out.
Any ideas? I've already tried making a fresh user but the same problems happen.
Cheers,
P

Yes, changing the theme or color scheme in Plasma5 should also change it for KDE4 apps (assuming that the theme is available). But in any case you can select it with qtconfig-qt4

A small annoyance that I have in KF5 plasma-desktop is that my panel (which I always put on the right side of the screen) can not auto-hide despite having that option in the settings. Anyone got a good solution?

Well I don't have much to offer, but I can at least tell you that mine is working just fine, so it has to be something with your setup, maybe you have some conflicting kde4 stuff ?

Any idea on how to disable that annoying (system) [bios] beep without
xset b off
xset b 0 0 0
on every plasma startup?
When I search for a text in my beloved firefox and the text is not found I get this annoying beep that normally only is used if something is terrible wrong with the motherboard or the like.
The above code disables it, but as it only happens in plasma 5 and not in gnome 3, it's something I'd rather disable in kde itself instead of disabling it system wide.

other programs (outside of kde, like chromium, q4wine, amule, etc) with systemtray icons don't show their icons there. is normal?

I didn't realise chromium had a system tray icon... I know that deluge and transmission-gtk sometimes appear.
Claire is fine.
Problems? I have dysgraphia, so clear and concise please.

Just like to chime in that this is what finally fixed my issues with KDE4 apps using the wrong color scheme. The kdeglobals file in .kde4 was the culprit, once I copied the color info from the .kde kdeglobals file into the .kde4 version, everything is using the proper color scheme now, yay!

Hi, I installed plasma-desktop from extra, with kf5 and kf5-aids, but I have several "Segmentation Faults" every time I run plasma o any other kde5 app like krunner or kinfocenter...From console I get:

I tried moving the config files from my /home and creating a new user, but in both cases it's the same result.
Hope you can help me! Thanks!

Just throwing a few packages out there that I'm surprised depend on workspace:
apper
bluedevil
kdenetwork-kget
kdeutils-print-manager
And all the kcm AUR packages break, but that is expected. Now I haven't hacked on any of these, so I'm not sure what in workspace they depend on.

apper
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/42177
bluedevil
kdenetwork-kget
It links to the workspace to be able to shut down when all downloads are finished. Use kdenetwork-kget-noworkspace
kdeutils-print-manager
I guess the KCM module could be used in Plasma5 with kcmshell4, but I don't see the advantage of opening a KDE4 kcm module outside systemsettings vs. just using the CUPS web interface. The plasmoid of course doesn't work in Plasma5

Apparently auto hide of the panel works when it is at the bottom edge of the screen but not at the right edge.... strange!

I'll try it one more time:
In Firefox and other GTK apps (but especially Firefox), when I search the page and it fails to find what I was searching for, I get the annoying system-bios-bell.
I'd rather have a nice sound, like I have in Gnome 3. I know I can disable this in about:config, I can even disable beeping on the whole x-server. But I'd really love to have an audible sound when I mistyped/misspelled something or it couldn't find what I was looking for.
Any ideas?

Until legacy systray is solved, I use
trayer --edge bottom --widthtype request --align right --distance 30
Then it looks like this:
Is there a good pulseaudio volume applet? I like especially one that allows to set the output "port" like "Speakers" v.s. "Headphones". veromix was my choice but the plasmoid obviously doesn't work right now.
edit: There are quite some frameworks git packages in the AUR. https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/?K=frameworks-git
Is there some repository that would provide nightly builds or so?

I tested it and for me it works in all edges, weird.

According to this (however it is quite old) :
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic … 7&t=182002
You can set 'accessibility.typeaheadfind.soundURL' in about:config to specify your own wav file. I would think that this would force the sound to be played through the sound card. On mine it is set to 'beep' and goes through the system bell. I have no idea how to do it on all other apps. You would think it would be a gtk config option of some sort perhaps?

There are other systray tools.
For example
community/stalonetray 0.8.1-3
STAnd-aLONE sysTRAY. It has minimal build and run-time dependencies: the Xlib only.
It has a lot of options too, but I didn't really find out how to make it do what I want.

I made one:
[frameworks-git]
Server = http://haagch.frickel.club/files/frameworks-git
64 bit only.
I Don't know how often I will update it.
I hope it doesn't create too much traffic.

Thanks. Note that there are some applications whose frameworks branch has already been merged in master, so they don't have the "frameworks" suffix anymore but still they are KF5 based: konsole, kate, gwenview

I see, but they require a lot of dependencies from git. I'll look later which packages can be added without compiling too much.
edit: Oh, why the hell not? It's adding some stuff to a text file and letting the cronjob do all the work.
Is there a tool that recursively lists all dependencies of an AUR package in the "right order"?
