2 network cards, default ip address

hi guys,

i have a machine with 2 ethernet interfaces;

eth0="eth0 149.153.8.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 149.153.8.255 up"
eth1="eth1 149.153.9.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 149.153.9.255 up"
my gateway to public internet is:
149.153.8.253

i want to be able to use 149.153.9.1 as the default ip address for communications for the public internet

( part of my college firewalls config is that no communication from 149.153.8.* is alloweable to the public net, but all from 149.153.9.* is)

cheers!

You will need a different gateway so - one on the .9.* subnet.

Not college, no - family stuff.

Sounds like you have a lot of freedom to sort out your network - on good terms with the admins (or maybe you are one)?

Re: 2 network cards, default ip address

haha actually on good / bad terms with the admins
depends on the admin

its a honeypot project
and they own 149.153.*.* so they have no problems assigning two class C's for a project, ( vlan'd of course )
using the arch box as a router, but will be using it to restrict connections out of the network, just have to sort a few little things first
