Are you running Kwin as a window manager?

Yes, I'm running Kwin. It was fine in 5.2.2 though

GTK apps (Firefox and Thunderbird) stopped respecting my GTK icon theme (breeze-dark) after an update today.
There was an update to the breeze and breeze-kde4 themes, as well as kde-gtk-config (which replaced kde-gtk-config-frameworks).
EDIT: Turns out downgrading breeze from 5.3.0 to 5.2.2 fixes the issue.

Sorry in case it has already been asked/reported (it's a long thread afterall): if i try to change wallpaper from kcmshell5 sddm it doesn't work: i still get the default one from breeze. Suggestions?

Yeah, I don't know why it doesn't work, but you can set it manually by changing the path to the image in /usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze/theme.conf, or copying the image you want to use over /usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze/components/artwork/background.png.

So I've run into a few issues finally moving to Plasma 5 after staying on KDE4 (albeit not without trying each other release up to this point).
The startup time is atrocious! My desktop is one of the most extreme edge cases of KDE users since I have 6 (radically different) displays, even using xrandr outputsourcing to split them between my radeonsi 290 and Intel 4600, and before now my display setup simply did not work under KDE5 despite a lot of time on the bugtracker with 5.2 about it - that probably helped contribute to it all working now. I can visibly see when booting Plasma 5 as krandr sets the displays, the cursor theme is updated, and how slowly plasmashell comes up. I timed the two, though, and KDE4 starts from a KDM login screen to working desktop in 2.5 seconds, and Plasma 5 takes an average of 27 seconds across half a dozen restarts for plasmashell to start and be in a usable state. Somethings wrong, but nothings showing up in xsession-errors and sddm.log is a lot less informative than kdm.log ever was.
Several plasmoids cause CPU leaks for plasmashell. Probably memory leaks too, but I never was able to run them long enough to find out - my AC is not on yet and having one core of my CPU being maxed for four hours straight made my room unbearably hot. The culprits I've found (and had to cease using) are the CPU / Hard Drive / Network usage IO monitors - the ones with the continuous plotting (that now looks gorgeous with Breeze, btw, its a shame I can't use it). On a cold start plasmashell would start around 1% CPU usage, but would creep up to ~6% in around five minutes, and through my testing would peak around 10 - 12%. Not quite single core saturation somehow (would be 16% on an 8 core) but still too much constant load. Without these widgets enabled plasmashell barely has any CPU usage at all - like it shouldn't. The Telepathy widget is also spinlocking something when signing in to an account - you can test it by putting intentionally bad credentials in the yahoo signin dialog and having it sit there trying to sign in, it constantly consumes ~6% CPU while sitting there, and will perpetually do so until you disable the account - the signin timeout doesn't even stop it.
This is the most baffling bug I've had on KDE5. I like having meta-g as a ksysguard shortcut to open the task manager. I set that as a custom shortcut in kde4, and did the same here. The problem is using the action of any variant of ksysguard \ sh ksysguard \ /usr/bin/ksysguard gives me an "Service 'kded/ksysguard.desktop' is malformatted." error. I can run it fine as an application pinned to my dock, through a normal terminal, or through krunner, but trying to make it a shortcut gives me a malformed desktop file error. I can even open the ksysguard.desktop file in /usr/share/applications no problem. I have less than zero idea what could cause this, or even how to begin fixing it. I assume kded might be mistakenly trying to run ksysguard.desktop rather than org.kde.ksysguard.desktop... but why would it be doing that? I'm invoking ksysguard from a terminal! Hell, I can even invoke it from a shell command and this happens!
I think plasmashell captures all drop events. I always have hundreds of tabs in Firefox all the time, and often want to drag them out into their own windows and have tabs side by side. It is an incredible pitnick, but drag / dropping tabs in KDE4 on the desktop would pull the tab out into a new window, and now plasmashell is trying to capture the drop events (it even shows an icon highlight doing it) and prevents that behavior. Its just annoying to have to right click -> move to new window -> drag window rather than just dragging the tab.
All things considered this release is glorious. I'm so pissed Kubuntu 15.04 doesn't have 5.3 on it, because now I have to pass off a significantly inferior experience to muggles. But my notebook and desktop are now on Plasma 5 for good. I hope KDE Connect releases its frameworks version soon... the buggy git version is just not up to snuff! If anyone knows about any of these - minor - annoyances, let me know how to fix them, they are my only gripes now!

Guys plasma 5.3 is unusable for me...I got CPU regression all the time...

Yeah, I've been having some more issues with 5.3 myself. Nothing major, but lots of minor annoyances:
- Touchpad gets enabled on login and touchpad toggle shortcut key gets disabled (set to none in global shortcuts).
- Bluetooth refuses to work.
- Breeze icons in GTK.
I'm reverting everything back to 5.2.2 for now.

Are you using any of the cpu/memory/disk io monitoring plasmoids?

Yes, turn them off for now. Hopefully 5.3.1 fixes them. If I put any of them on my desktop I get 6% constant CPU usage by plasmashell, without them it barely uses any cycles.

Carl Karl wrote:There's a new bug about the "show desktop" function: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346837
Workaround: Disable the "window aperture" effect. Thanks for the heads up. A more important workaround (actually, a solution to getting the real old behaviour back) is that there's now a Kwin script that enables a shortcut item for "Minimize all windows", which is what the old Show Desktop function used to do. The current Show Desktop function swipes everything out of the way to show the desktop (I assume this is for accessing desktop icons and widgets?), including Conky instances, so I'd rather keep the Minimize behaviour to be able to peek at my Conky info panels.
Maybe a silly question : I enabled the Minimize Windows script, but how do I use it ?

It creates a new global keyboard shortcut, under Kwin, called Minimize All Windows. So just set that and you're good to go.

How to change WM to awesomewm in Plasma?
GUI option to change WM is disabled, only KWin is enabled

Updating from stable dolphin to dolphin-git broke all shortcuts, even default ones (ctrl+c/ctr+v) all say they're ambiguous. I tried to reset them to default, both in dolphin and the system settings, but it still keeps coming back.
Tried deleting ~/.config/dolphinrc but no change either. Any ideas?

Isn't extra/kmix the KF5 version of the program?

Well, I was wrong because i didn't notice that there are 2 kmix packages in extra repo: kdemultimedia-kmix (for KDE4) and kmix (for KF5)
I was using kmix-git.
