new day, new issue
i dont have the "create new -> folder|file|etc" in dolphin service menu
one thread said "this has been asked multiple times please search" and pointed to
this as a solution.
Read the post you linked again. That solution is for a different issue.
Also, post the output of 'pacman -Q dolphin kdebase-lib kde-templates'

Anyone who uses sshfs mounts noticed the performance is now extremely crippled compared to 15.04? Browsing a share with many folders or even scrolling is sluggish. Tried with konqueror (=dolphinpart4) and it's fluid, just like it was with dolphin4. This coupled with the random crashes and "permission denied"/"file not found" errors makes me wish I didn't upgrade to it on my main machine.
Is there a way to install the KDE4 version of dolphin until the kf5 branch matures?

There's dolphin4 in the dolphinpart4 package, you could use that

this post is what i was referring to (which is the same issue i have), and the only answer there pointed to the one i linked before.

I'm using sshfs and did not notice any performance loss compared to 15.04, even when browsing folders with lots of entries.

Thanks. Sshfs mounts work fine with it as expected.
edit: any idea how to get dolphin4 to show the launcher icon? It currently uses the generic binary icon...

Have you tried using the "details" view when browsing them? For me it's my music library, with about 400 folders in the "root" directory and about 30k files in total.

Does anyone know when we'll get the 15.4 version, since the new one is not in testing yet?

Plasmashell is using 80% of one of my cores in "idle". Little bit crazy. Could someone tell me, if this is a bug or could someone help me to reduce the CPU usage?
Edit: Also Plasma takes like 100 years to shutdown since 5.4. (Though I don't care that much about that. The CPU issue is more important.)
"pkill kactivitymanagerd" worked for me.

Ever since the last KF5 update, file associations are messed up and won't update now. I tried updating "File Associations" from System Settings -> Applications -> File Associations but changes are reverted when I close/open file associations again.
I also tried removing /.config/mimeapp.list and then symlinking to .local/share/applications/mimeapp.list but that didn't help either. Any suggestions?
(Note: kcmshell4 filetypes are correct, it's kcmshell5 filetypes that keep reverting themselves)

Hi folks:
I have an issue (between many more on Plasma 5...) with the latest Dolphin 5. The fish protocol doesn't work. Dolphin just hangs in there.
Running Dolphin 4 it works fine:
For example, enter at the Location bar: fish://myuser@machineaddress
Works on dolphin4 and it hangs on dolphin5. Any ideas?

No, you're not alone.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KD … atch_limit
edit: arojas is quicker as usual.
The fix described in the wiki does not work anymore (I am using the permanent solution):
➜ ~ cat /etc/sysctl.d/90-inotify.conf
#increase inotify watch limit
fs.inotify.max_user_watches = 10000
Otherwise, when no preferred language set, I have several languages used in the same application, it is very strange...
I am hablo differente lingua dans la same sentence.

English + other language text fields are very common, even with a preference set, because certain strings haven't been translated yet and English is the base language. This has pretty much always been the case from what I recall

You are right. When browsing directories containing a lot of sub directories the performance is very low. Dolphin seems to check the number of elements for each sub directory.

Just set the "Icon" key in the *.desktop file: http://standards.freedesktop.org/deskto … 01s05.html

It did so before, too, actually. Just now it's slow for some reason. Would probably help if you (and anyone else seeing this issue) pitch in on the bug report here

Hi everyone,
Recently I have been experiencing some weird "hangs" of plasmashell. While I have been watching videos, plasmashell's CPU usage is high (8% at my 4-core/8-thread CPU). The problem seemed to be resolved after a relogin. But now it persists, so everytime I login plasmashell and kactivitymanagerd eat around 1 core both of them (plasmashell is around 8% and kactivitymanagerd is around 4-5%).
Searching in journalctl, I found the following:
ganymede akonadiserver[6296]: Control process died, committing suicide!
Sep 08 00:34:01 ganymede systemd-coredump[6669]: Process 5209 (kactivitymanage) of user 1213 dumped core.
Sep 08 00:34:01 ganymede akonadi_imap_resource[6671]: QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display :0
Sep 08 00:34:01 ganymede akonadi_mailfilter_agent[6675]: QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display :0
Sep 08 00:34:01 ganymede akonadi_ical_resource[6680]: QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display :0
Sep 08 00:34:01 ganymede akonadi_migration_agent[6676]: QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display :0
Sep 08 00:34:01 ganymede akonadi_ical_resource[6681]: QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display :0
Does anybody else have a similar problem? I tried to switch to UXA instead of SNA (Intel graphics, it was the first guess, since I had the problem during video playback) but it's not that.
The Akonadi logs showed a problem with dbus:
"D-Bus communication error 'org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply': 'Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.'"
But installing the previous version of dbus didn't seem to do the trick.

It doesn't work everytime. If it doesn't, try kill plasmashell too, run plasmashell, then kill kactivitymanagerd again. When it works, plasmashell CPU usage will decline in a few seconds.
Yes, it's annoying as hell. And without kactivitymanagerd, activity switching is gone.
I tried deleting .config/{kactivitymanagerd,plasma*} and .local/share/kactivitymanagerd to clear all Plasma data. Worked fine for a few hours then the problem reappeared.

Solved, but I needed to create a new user. Old KDE4 configuration issues?

Yep does seem to do the trick but kactivitymanagerd, after a while, keeps coming back and then plasmashell is back to 80%-90%.
Have disable kactivitymanagerd.service and hopefully it will go away and I'll wait for the next release of plasmashell to hopefully fix the problem.

This does seem to fix the problem for me too. In [testing] there is already Plasma 5.4.1 available. Although, there are still some open/unconfirmed bugs in KDE related to kactivitymanagerd.
