I just ran a system upgrade that upgraded the kernel (4.1.6-1 -> 4.2.1-1) and my nvidia drivers (352.41-1 -> 355.11-2). After I rebooted the screen was just infinitely scrolling vertically extremely fast and I cant do anything.
For example:

Is this an old CRT system, or is that an LCD display? Is it an internal laptop display or an external monitor? What kind of cable is it? DVI? HDMI? VGA?

It's a fairly new Panasonic 4K TV, i'm using HDMI.

Nice -- a 4K TV as a monitor. I don't use NVidia, so I cannot help too much, but I do have a reasonable video background. With HDMI, it is not going to be any of the traditional vsync problems.
Had this worked before?
Does this happen with Xorg, or does it happen from the console before Xorg starts?

So I just did a restore to an old image i had hoping that something had just been messed up on my system. But when I updated it did the same thing. Should I do a full reinstall or would I have the same problem?
I'm going to try downgrading the nvidia packages first and see if that helps.

It's never happened. I get the normal bootup but I have it booting straight into kde so I don't see the console. It starts as soon as the kde splash appears.

Well I just downgraded nvidia and the kernel modules. Attempting to boot now.
Edit: I just booted up and downgrading has fixed the problem. So is it the kernel or the nvidia drivers?

Most probably it is a problem in the nvidia drivers. There are a couple of threads describing (possibly related) issues with the latest nvidia driver. However, what is your current resolution and what is the native resolution of your monitor?

It is set to 3840x2160. I think that's the native res.

Does it work if you change the resolution to a lower value?
I cant do anything, i'ts not usable so I can't change the res. I had to freeze the kernel at 4.1 and nvidia drivers at v352.

I understand. I'm sorry but I have no other suggestion... it seems there are a few issues with the latest nvidia drivers and maybe your is related to them.

Than's for the help.

What really sucks though is now I can't upgrade my kernel. Does anyone know a way around this?
