Wireless PCI card: cannot allocate memory

After some update I'm not able to connect to my wifi through wireless PCI card.
The card is this one: https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B00560 … UTF8&psc=1
I don't know if somehow this issue could be related to my recent graphic card change that troubled the PCI's scheme in Linux.

I'm able to use a USB network adapter to go online but if I try to put the PCI interface up I get this error:

sudo ip link set  wlp35s0 up
RTNETLINK answers: Cannot allocate memory

During the boot, before the login screen, I see overflow errors.
Something like

phy0: rt2x00queue_initialize: Error - Queue entries allocation failed

I tried to blacklist rt2x00 driver, then just 2800, then both.
I installed (and later removed) rt3290sta-dkms package.

If I try to go online with wifi-menu I get the following outcome:

sudo wifi-menu wlp35s0
[sudo] password for ***:
Scanning for networks... Could not set interface wlp35s0 flags (UP): Cannot allocate memory
nl80211: Could not set interface 'wlp35s0' UP
Could not set interface wlp35s0 flags (UP): Cannot allocate memory
WEXT: Could not set interface 'wlp35s0' UP
wlp35s0: Failed to initialize driver interface
failed
No networks found

I know that with a fresh installation I could get the wireless card working again, but I don't find it an elegant solution, plus I'd like to learn more about this kind of problem to be able to solve it in future.
Any idea? I tried to report all useful information but I don't know if I'm missing something.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Wireless PCI card: cannot allocate memory

That card appears to use a rtl 8192SE chipset, which has it's own kernel module.

don't blacklist any rtl modules, reboot, post lspci -k and dmesg or journal.

Re: Wireless PCI card: cannot allocate memory

I removed the blacklist files and rebooted.
Then:

lspci -k

Subsystem: Ralink corp. RT5392 PCIe Wireless Network Adapter
        Kernel driver in use: rt2800pci
        Kernel modules: rt2800pci

And:

dmesg

Re: Wireless PCI card: cannot allocate memory

The link in first post pointed to an Atlantis-Land A02-PCIE1-W300N card, which uses a realtek chipset.

The lspci -k snippet talks about a ralink chipset.

please post full lspci -k , dmesg and/or journalctl of a boot.

It may be  a kernel problem, have you tried to boot with linux-lts ?
(you can have both linux & linux-lts installed)

I'm not able to boot with linux-lts because I get stuck at the boot with the loop of this error:

Re: Wireless PCI card: cannot allocate memory

I tried to download driver from http://www.atlantisland.it/pub/prodotti … UxLVczMDBO and to compile it but I get the following error:

Re: Wireless PCI card: cannot allocate memory

Seems you currently have 3 network cards :
pci - realtek ethernet
pci - ralink wlan
usb realtek wlan

post lspci -nn and lsusb , that should give pci ids so we can be certain what chipsets are used.

Some other things :

You run a ryzen processor on a MSI motherboard.
Are you using latest uefi firmware ?
Are you running stock or overclocked ?

Have you tried with 4.13 kernel ( [testing] repo or linux-mainline from aur )

Re: Wireless PCI card: cannot allocate memory

Thanks for replies, I really appreciate it.
I'm running stock and yes, the UEFI firmware is updated.
As I said, the PCI card used to work fine before the installation of new graphic card (Nvidia 1050 Ti).

I tried to boot with 4.13 kernel (from the testing repository) but nothing changed.

Re: Wireless PCI card: cannot allocate memory

Ok, your motherboard is a B350 tomahawk aka MS-7A34 ?

according to the manual that MoBo has 4 PCI express ports and 2 PCI ports.

PCI_E2 is a PCIe v3 x16 slot and directly connected to the cpu . It's intended for graphics use.

PCI_E1  , PCI_E3 and PCI_E4 are PCIe v2 slots and are connected through the chipset .

PCI_E1 and PCI_E3 are x1 slots, while PCI_E4 is a x4 slots (it has a 16 lanes connector like PCI-E2, but can only use 4 of those lanes) .

please describe which card occupies which physical slot .

Re: Wireless PCI card: cannot allocate memory

PCI_E1 = Ralink Wireless Card.
PCI_E4 = Graphic card, NVIDIA 1050 Ti

The previous setup was the same, just with a different graphic card in PCI_E4, a 750 Ti.

Re: Wireless PCI card: cannot allocate memory

Sorry for delay, i've been very busy.

Have you tried the wireless card in PCI_E3 slot or putting the nvidia card in PCI_E2 ?
