I'm trying to install archlinux on a computer which I suspect has RAM memory errors. Surprisingly if I run memtest (2 passes, more than 2h) I do not get any error.
But: If I try to load the live cd the laptop reboots suddenly. As far as I can see the restart happens exactly after "Started udev kernel device manager" (which is marked as OK).
. I have the same problems with ubuntu livecds.
I tried acpi=off and others without success.
Any idea?

How much memory have you?
What make and model of processor is it?

4GB and intel cetrino 2.
Actually I see that systemd reaches "slice system-dhcp.slice" without errror. Then I get a error:
"A TPM error occurred attempting to read a pcr value"
But I can not believe this causes a sudden reboot. I tried to disable TPM in the BIOS but as far as I unterstand it, it was already disabled and desactivated.

Intel cetrino 2.
That's not a CPU.
Centrino was a name used for a collection of specific parts that could include one of around 20 different CPUS.

You're probably right, but this is the info Samsung itself provides (http://samsung.tabletsnlaptops.com/sams … .html#tech). Since I can not boot with archlinux, I can not get any other infos...
The laptop worked for many years with windows without problems. The owner (a relative of mine) only recently started to have random freezes. I think it has to do with RAM errors. But, again, memtest86+ does not give any error in 2h... Maybe I have to let the test run even longer...

I believe that laptop uses an Intel® Core™2 Duo SU9300 which is a 64-bit capable processor - that's one of the things that we were checking for.
Ideally you should let memtest run at least overnight if you really want to rule out RAM issues. Just 2 passes isn't enough to stress the memory properly.

OK. I let memtest run overnight! Thanks for your help!
