I updated the system for libraries update, but still same error.
Tried to open it in konsole and get following error

KCrash: crashing... crashRecursionCounter = 2
KCrash: Application Name = krita path = /usr/bin pid = 1286
KCrash: Arguments: /usr/bin/krita
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib/drkonqi from kdeinit
sock_file=/run/user/1000/kdeinit5__0

I am using arch linux with kde plasma as ui.

Please elaborate. What is "package manager" in this context? Is your system up-to-date? Do you have any testing repositories enabled?

Re: [SOLVED] Krita not opening

Could you generate a core dump and backtrace so we can have a look where the segmentation occurs? My Krita works fine so it might be KDE or plasma throwing the seg fault.

Re: [SOLVED] Krita not opening

Hi,

Thanks for reply, sorry I was not able to come online before.

@WorMzy
I used pacman to download krita (from official repository).
I already mentioned my system is up to date and there is no testing repositories enabled.

@d_fajardo
Sorry I am not able to use core dump, in my case

gdb -p 1673

it comes

ptrace: no such processes

and thus not able to use

generate-core-file

Please tell how to remove this bug, as I want to use krita on my computer.

And there is a quick question how to tag people here and reply to a specific post.

Thank you

It's difficult to debug if we don't know what triggers the seg fault.

Re: [SOLVED] Krita not opening

System is a bit out of date now including a fix that would make C++ backtraces more usable but if you update now you may hit an issue with mesa if the CPU does not support AVX2.
`lscpu` lists the extensions the CPU supports under the Flags category,  will be listed as avx2 is the CPU supports AVX2.

I had updated the system just before installing krita and checked for updates after installing.
How updating the system hit an issue, i think updating doesn't give issues.
Not an issue you might know more.

Re: [SOLVED] Krita not opening

System does not have avx or avx2 so do not upgrade until https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/65498 is fixed.
Back to the original issue unfortunately I can not see anything useful from the backtrace as there are no debug symbols.
Perhaps someone else may be able to make more of it.

Ok will wait for that, but need some fast solution.
No problem will try to handle.

I thought arch linux provides tested updates.
Is might updating creates issue.

Not know, as not want to change the topic.

Re: [SOLVED] Krita not opening

When Krita gave a segmentation fault on my system recently the problem turned out to be a misconfigured locale. What is the output of

locale

?

See my thread from late december: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=251711

If your problem is different, a full backtrace with debug symbols can probably tell other helpful people here a lot. Following all the instructions on debugging properly can take a bit of time if it's your first time doing something like that (it did for me), so maybe try the 'locale' thing first, as that takes no time at all.

Re: [SOLVED] Krita not opening

Hello,

@ThomasN
Yes, you are right it was fault due to locale not set.
I am able to use krita thanks for your answer.

Anyone tell me how to mark the post as solved and how to tag people here.
