Only "issue" is some compatibility problem with the nvme ssd. Fixed by adding

nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=5500

as kernel parameter

Installed about one week. So far everything was pretty smooth. Only had some problems with the hybrid GPU in order to make the nvidia drivers to work. But after installed optimus-manager I got it working too. Now I'm testing Unity3D (game engine).

Issues:
Mic only works with sof-firmware and a custom kernel like in this forum post -> https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=256843
Fortunately it takes less than an hour to compile
Battery doesn't report discharge properly. Powertop seems to think there's 1400 hours of battery life.

What works?
Everything else works flawlessly right down to the pen having pressure sensitivity in Krita.

I know, this is not an classic arch install from scratch, but I was running arch before Antergos without any issue, I was just curious to try some alternatives...
Everything run smoothly, even some games using Bumblebee (Distance, Dirt, ...).

I swapped out the crappy Realtek 2288BE for an intel ax200 wireless adapter. Stable connection now, although bluetooth behaves weird. It works but systemd spits out some errors and connecting to my bluetooth speakers sometimes needs multiple tries.
Nice screen, very quick on gnome/wayland, keyboard that I have to get used to, but ok..
i'm not completely sure if this going to be my workhorse laptop or if my 2011 Dell xps L502X will still be number one

No issues with Lenovo IdeaPad S340, amazingly easy install. Just wiped Windoz 10 and installed Arch about 3 months ago, no issuses. Only had to add acpi_backlight=vendor to kernel parameters in grub to get backlight keys to work. Running Arch on 2 desktops (I7 & I5) and 4 laptops (2 Acers, 1 HP and this Lenovo). Fantastic O/S.

A little barriers to install - you have to disable secure boot or clear the keys and switch nvme ssd mode from Intel optimized to AHCI.

As far as I know, all things works fine with Arch in Sep 2020 apart from a slight issue- FN + F6 cannot turn the screen off but you have to press FN+F7 lots of times to adjust the brightness of your screen to zero.

Of course, adjusting sound cards, graphic cards or some thing like that is always a little bothering, but it didn't take too much time to get everything fixed.

Running this on an asus vivobook S14. Worst issue so far has been the keyboard backlight. Had to download a bash script and setup a systemd service to get good functionality out of it (i.e. turn off when not in use, turn back on, etc.). So far, only works when running Xorg. Rest of my experience has been rocky, but fun.

I am using a Dell Latitude D430.
The laptop is really old and shitty. The integrated gpu struggles a bit with KDE-desktop and the harddrive is really bad.

The Wifi-adapter needs the B43-firmware-cutter,  but it's replacable.

Some time ago I've installed Linux on Asus K50IN laptop with G102M GPU. There were a few issues:
1. The system crashed randomly - the screen froze, and the system did not respond to almost anything. The only thing I have noticed is the HDD led turning on while pressing alt+sysrq+S. Journalctl logs showed nouveau driver crash. I have "fixed" the problem by using an older kernel, I believe the current linux-lts branch.
2. I could not suspend the system, it never reached the standby mode (power LED was constantly on), the screen went black and system did not respond to anything. The system did suspend correctly if I set the systemd startup to multi-user.target instead of graphical.target or if I stopped X server (my DE was XFCE). I have "fixed" the bug by adding kernel parameter init_on_alloc=0. I think this might be a nouveau bug.
3. The hibernate did not power down the system but rebooted it. I don't know what's the desired behavior as I never use it, but it didn't feel right. I have followed instructions at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Po … ibernating
4. External projector connection sometimes did not trigger udev scripts that were calling autorandr. This might be a GPU or nouveau bug.

I did not use the official NVIDIA driver, because I didn't know how to get udev hotplug rule trigger on VGA cable connection. I'm guessing (as I do not know much about Linux) this might be because the last/latest driver supporting the G102M is too old to have the DRM KMS functionality.

Lenovo s405 with arch around 2019 works fine,
Jumper ezbook 3 pro works fine now,
Voyo vbook A1 pentium works fine now, except the touchscreen and rotation sensor. for me, I don't need the touchscreen and rotation. I am not sure if it can be fixed. The keyboard has no screen backlight control keys. In widows it controlled by touchscreen UI. I use some shell scpits to control the backlight into low/medium/high.

I haven't gotten the headphone jack to work, but to be fair I have spent very little time on that as I mostly use Bluetooth headphones. I use Nvidia-xrun utilize the Nvidia GPU when I want to, but most of the time I leave it powered off, and it's worked quite well for me.

All runs well in Windows 10, naturally.

For Arch installation:
Had to go into the BIOS and manually turn off Fast Boot and Secure Boot. Also had to manually change the boot order to read the USB port first. After that installation was smooth following the Wiki. Could not log in to GRUB at first reboot, so also had to change the boot order with ‘efibootmgr’ as well as manually inside the BIOS, in order to enable GRUB to show up – see V1del’s advice here (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=256453). Currently running xfce with no real operating issues in general. Using both the current linux-linux kernel as well as the linux-lts for backup – both run smoothly.

Functions (mostly) working in Arch:

    • Headphone jack output and PAVU volume controls work out of the box, but the internal speakers do not work unless activated each time with ‘alsactl init’. This needs to be run after each reboot, as well as every time after the headphone jack is used and ‘phones are unplugged. Running ‘alsactl store’ and ‘alsactl restore’ still do not enable persistence after a reboot. But the above workaround command does function fine. Waiting for a BIOS update to try, as per V1del’s suggestion here: (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=256989).
     
    • Quick launch buttons: button for the keyboard RGB lighting display adjustment does not work, but the button to manually run fans at full ‘turbo’ does work.
     
    • Trackpad works with basic functionality, but not with any two finger or advanced gestures, etc.
     
    • Standard USB ports work normally, though without their red backlighting effects.
     
    • SD card reader works well.
     
    • USB-C port reads the Android device: after installing ‘android-file-transfer’ it works well, and allows transfers in both directions. USB-C connection initially defaults to charging the device, and this works well, too. (KDE-Connect works smoothly on xfce, as does bluetooth, and I use them as well.)
     
    • External mic input working, tested with a headset mic. Webcam mic also works.
     
    • Bluetooth works using ‘bluetoothctl’ per the Wiki ( https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bluetooth#Pairing ). Smartphone pairs for data transfer, audio & calls; headphones and external speakers pair for audio as well. Also works with blueman installed for a GUI, though ‘bluetoothctl’ is more reliable.
     
    • The keyboard’s master function key highlighting command does still work: it isolates and lights up all the RGB function keys in red for easy selection.

Function keys that do work are:
    • screen brightness arrow fn keys
    • keyboard brightness +/- fn keys (4 settings)
    • audio volume and muting arrow fn keys (working for both speaker and ‘phones outputs)
    • webcam F6 function button works

NOT working in Arch:

    • Function keys that don’t (so far): most of the top row, F2 – F12, these include trackpad on/off, eco control, programmable F4, airplane mode, turbo shift mode, sleep, (unable to test multi monitor).
     
    • Changing the Steel Series keyboard RGB backlighting configurations do not work (naturally…) but as I am still dual-booting, it appears to “remember” the last setting applied to it in Windows and displays that in Arch. So you’re not stuck with the disco lights unless you want them. Will it still remember after I wipe Windows? - don’t know yet. I have not yet tried one of the AUR packages such as ‘msi-perkeyrgb’ ( https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/msi-perkeyrgb/ ) to see how that will function, though it is supposed to work on this model. I will install that and test it shortly.
     
    • Standard USB port red lights for night illumination – as mentioned, these show no lights at all.
     
    • The main power button light comes on white for ½ second, then switches to red standby mode color and after that remains red, not white, when powered on, but power works fine.

Not tested:
I have no way to test the HDMI external video feed, nor the monitor switching function.

Access to Windows files are no problem in Arch, as well as reading the ext4 file system in Windows, with appropriate packages installed. No problems configuring access.

Graphics card switching:
I am using Askannz’s ‘optimus-manager’ from the AUR (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/optimus-manager/) along with its ‘optimus-manager-qt’ taskbar GUI control switcher ( https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/optimus-manager-qt/ ) – both programs are working well, and are simple to configure in a basic setup. After a recent upgrade, the qt taskbar switcher does not load at startup like before, but will show when called from the whisker menu, and subsequently works normally. I ususally run either Intel or nVidia depending on needs, not too often in hybrid mode, but all three settings are working, with the usual required log out/in to switch over. I’m not on the road much, so plugged-in is my usual state.

So far there are no other real issues, the installation runs quite well overall.
