Video Playback problem after update 5.19.7 using SteelSeries Arctis 7

I want to play back videos in my browser chromium and/or mpv.

After an update 5.19.7. When playing a video via mpv or chromium I can hear the audio running but the video output freezes while the audio continues.

I assume there is an problem with the gpu drivers  or acceleration. Is there a way to resolve  the freeze?

Does mpv print any errors?
What's its output to begin with?

WM: LG3D

Looking glass???
Please post your xorg log, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General and try eg. openbox.

Please post your xorg log, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General and try eg. openbox.

MPV has no error logs.

I use bspwm with a java  config  https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Bspwm# … plications

Re: Video Playback problem after update 5.19.7 using SteelSeries Arctis 7

mpv will print to stdout, mpv -v will print A LOT

Please post the entire log, not random exceprts. If bspwm is paired w/ startx, chances are /var/log/Xorg.0.log is a dated one and also that segment is irrelevant to the matter at hand

What do you mean with

/var/log/Xorg.0.log

is a dated?

Re: Video Playback problem after update 5.19.7 using SteelSeries Arctis 7

"chances are" … "If bspwm is paired w/ startx" - i didn't know because I couldn't see it, i could just very much have been the case.

You should remove "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" (there're no discernable meaningful options in it and it will occlude possible problems) and have a look at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA … de_setting to stabilize the autoconfiguration.
That being said there're also no obvious issues recorded in that log.

mpv looks fine as well, try

mpv -ao null /path/to/video.mkv

(there're some recent issues that seem to relate to the PA config, but rather resulted in AV sync losses)
Do you run a compositor next to bspwm (xcompmgr, picom, …)?

I am using `picom` with

% cat ~/.config/picom/picom.conf

Re: Video Playback problem after update 5.19.7 using SteelSeries Arctis 7

The implication was to try without - we need to figure at which layer the video stalls.

And did you try "-ao null"?

Edit: for mpv to rule out pulseaudio.

Re: Video Playback problem after update 5.19.7 using SteelSeries Arctis 7

I found out there is an issue with the headset I am using. I use the Steelseries Artics 7

When playing in  "SteelSeries Arctis 7 Chat" all works fine but "Running" "SteelSeries Arctis 7 Game"  causes a problem.

Therefore, is there a config I need to change for this headset?

% pamixer --list-sources
Sources:
53 "alsa_output.pci-0000_01_00.1.hdmi-stereo-extra2.monitor" "Running" "Monitor of GP106 High Definition Audio Controller Digital Stereo (HDMI 3)"

Re: Video Playback problem after update 5.19.7 using SteelSeries Arctis 7

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaud … ssues/1198
It *might* be down to the sample rate?
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaud … te_1026300

You should btw. probably adjust the thread subject to better reflect the cause/problem (editing your initial post allows you to edit the subject)

Edit: do you get the same errors as https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=279470 ?

Thanks for the tipp but the sample is also not the culprit. I will keep on testing.
