Re: 2024.02 Archboot - Arch Linux ISO hybrid image and UKIs released

Will 2023.1 support Microsoft Surface secure boot?

Current version doesn’t boot, and with TPM disabled it does boot but complains bad signature.

Re: 2024.02 Archboot - Arch Linux ISO hybrid image and UKIs released

I don't know how the Surface is built. Is it ARM or x86_64?
As I understand this question it is not possible to disable Secure Boot.
You need to launch the shim on the image, e.g. BOOTX64.EFI
Please read the homepage part with the MOK to get it running.

Re: 2024.02 Archboot - Arch Linux ISO hybrid image and UKIs released

It is x86_64.
I was able to install and enroll mok using a build from more than a week ago, but unable to boot after installation.
Tried newer builds a couple of days later and was then unable to boot into installation at all.

Another question, where is shimx64.efi located in the iso?

Re: 2024.02 Archboot - Arch Linux ISO hybrid image and UKIs released

Ok I changed the shim to an older version due to issues. Probably you need to disable secure boot and reset all MOK things first with mokutil.
The shim on iso is BOOTX64.EFI

Re: 2024.02 Archboot - Arch Linux ISO hybrid image and UKIs released

Works well on Microsoft Surface x86_64 after deleting old certificates and hashes using mokutil and changing bootorder using efibootmgr.

Is it possible to hide or skip grub menu? I have a touch screen without keyboard and cannot press enter key during boot.

Another question, since installation creates a efi/boot partition which is not mounted and /boot/ folder is empty after installation, must I mount boot partition during kernel updates? and where are kernel updates installed? I have problem loading new kernel after pacman -Syu, grub does not update to reflect new kernels.

Also, how may I install AppArmor?

- Yes sure checkout grub manuals it's a config option

Yes in newest image creates .service which is installed and does signing and copying automatically.

This is not in the scope of archboot, you need to configure this yourself.

Re: 2024.02 Archboot - Arch Linux ISO hybrid image and UKIs released

I want to install arch to my computer, I use this 'cause i think it has UEFI secure boot support()
Now(yesterday) i flash it(no special flags, 2023.2.22) to my 64GB USB Disk by rufus 3.21 portable, and when I come to grub ( enrolled mok ), first it shows '/boot/vmlinuz-x86_64' not found.
I boot windows and look in (Disk)/boot, and I see 'vmlinuz-x86_' file, i renamed it to correct one, and I boot to udisk again.
GRUB or something warns 'intel-ucode.img' not found, then a kernel panic.
I login to windows again and see it's 'intel-ucode', I also see 'amd-ucode.im'.
I renamed it yesterday, but after renaming 'intel-ucode' and eject, reboot, boot menu don't show my udisk, boot to windows, i see the partition data got lost(?), and I flush the iso again, rename , but not boot it.
Today I boot the iso, but it drops to EFI shell, it says I need to load the kernel first(trying run 'boot'), and I shutdown, boot windows, flash the 2023.2.28 iso, wrong name still sppears.
Is rufus tool wrong, or my disk is not good, or iso broken ?(it passed gpg .sig check, good signature)
or it just a wrong naming in iso?
may sorry for my English

Re: 2024.02 Archboot - Arch Linux ISO hybrid image and UKIs released

Pretty strange, have you used the dd mode in rufus? You need to enroll the kernel too else it will not boot.

well i enrolled the hash of 'vmlinuz-x86_', but i think it's hash so renaming don't make it wrong?
