can't connect to my wifi through iwd [RESOLVED]

I have fresh install of arch linux, but when i try to connect to password-protected wifi through iwd, it says "Operation failed".
journalctl says:
event: authentication-timeout,
event: connection-failed, status: 1

If i boot from my bootable usb drive it works perfectly.Connecting to free wifi is fine too.
I have Thinkpad T540p and i saw opinion that wifi module can work badly with linux, but as I said, I can connect to wifi on bootable usb
(I have Intel 7260 Wi-Fi card if it helps)

Here is some things i tried so far:
- change iwg/main.conf file with EnableNetworkConfiguration=true and EnableWPA3=true
- restart iwd

Really?

Closed.  Dust binned.

Reopened on the assurance this is now an Arch Linux system

journalctl says:

Please don't paraphrase, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57855
Please post your complete system journal for the boot:

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

just to be sure here is for bootable usb: http://0x0.st/KLfA.txt
and here is for arch os itself: http://0x0.st/KLfu.txt

in both situations i used iwctl and tried to join to my wifi.
the wifi is GOROD_intern, it's visible in logs anyway,

Ok, i disabled iwd and systemd-networkd as you suggest, but it didn't work for me.I tried nmcli device wifi connect <wifi> --ask, typed password and got message:"Error: Connection activation failed: The WI-FI network could not be found" but i can clearly see it in nmcli device wifi list.

here is logs: http://0x0.st/KLWr.txt

How many parallel windows installations are there?
=> 3rd link below. Mandatory.
Disable it (it's NOT the BIOS setting!) and reboot windows and linux twice for voodo reasons.

Nov 02 22:43:00 archlinux kernel: ACPI FADT declares the system doesn't support PCIe ASPM, so disable it

"iwlmvm.power_scheme=1", https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_parameters

If it's neither windows (if there is a parallel windows installation it very most likely is) nor the iwlmvm power saving, try to disable networkmananger and manually connect to the AP w/ iwd/iwctl as during the installtion.
If that also fails, test teh LTS kernel

How many parallel windows installations are there?
=> 3rd link below. Mandatory.
Disable it (it's NOT the BIOS setting!) and reboot windows and linux twice for voodo reasons.

Nov 02 22:43:00 archlinux kernel: ACPI FADT declares the system doesn't support PCIe ASPM, so disable it

"iwlmvm.power_scheme=1", https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_parameters

If it's neither windows (if there is a parallel windows installation it very most likely is) nor the iwlmvm power saving, try to disable networkmananger and manually connect to the AP w/ iwd/iwctl as during the installtion.
If that also fails, test teh LTS kernel

I assume by 'parallel windows installations' u mean Windows’ “Fast Startup” feature?So i logged in windows and disabled it.Didn't work for me(i rebooted windows AND linux like 5 times)
I changed iwlmvm.power_scheme to 1 through editing /boot/EFI/limine/limine.cfg file, didn't work for me.
I tried using only iwd.Turn off NetworkManager, turn on iwd.Didn't work
So I installed linux-lts linux-lts-headers and created entry for linux lts, boot with lts and would you know, it works!No idea why

here is new normal acrh linux entry: http://0x0.st/KLWl.txt
here is LTS arch linux entry: http://0x0.st/KLWR.txt
and just to be sure, here is my limine.cfg file: http://0x0.st/KLWn.txt

Re: can't connect to my wifi through iwd [RESOLVED]

Re: can't connect to my wifi through iwd [RESOLVED]

Please avoid bloating the thread with pointless full quotes.

So I installed linux-lts linux-lts-headers and created entry for linux lts, boot with lts and would you know, it works!
No idea why

Because you're no longer getting

Nov 03 00:27:34 archlinux kernel: ------------[ cut here ]------------

There's still

Nov 03 00:27:35 archlinux kernel: wlan0: No basic rates, using min rate instead

so that's a red herring

The warning code path was introduced w/ https://github.com/gregkh/linux/commit/ … 0377b42973 - the patches caused a lot of trouble when 6.16 was released
=> Does a 6.16.x kernel work for you?
You can get it from the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Ala or https://pkgbuild.com/~gromit/linux-bisection-kernels/ has builds of various kernel iterations (incl. between releases)

Ok, so i tried several kernels and here what i got:
6.16.10 (works)
6.17.2 (doesn't work)
6.17.0 (works)
6.17.1 (works)
6.17.7 (doesn't work)

so yeah, my doomsday version is 6.17.2 and above

Re: can't connect to my wifi through iwd [RESOLVED]

Not "uh… oh", kinda expected. Actually.
Thanks for the confirmation.
Stick w/ the 6.17.1 or (probably better) LTS kernel and wait for this to get resolved smile

Speaking of which:
Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.

(There's nothing else to do here, we found the cause and how to avoid it)
