HP nx7400

Hi guys,

I own the laptop in the subject. Everything works fine except two things:

- I can't suspend the laptop (either to RAM or to disk); sad
- The audio buttons on the keyboard don't work.

For more information about my laptop visit this site: http://emisca.altervista.org/nx7400; I have the same model.

It seems like S2RAM makes suspend to work under Ubuntu but now I'm using Arch and I want to keep it. The audio buttons worked in every distros I tried... how can I configure them?

Thanks, axelgenus.

Re: HP nx7400

hey,

1, suspend is almost always a kernel issue (assuming it worked with other distros), maybe try different one
2, for the multimedia keys, maybe these will help

it's not exactly for your laptop, but you'll hopefully get the idea

Yes, I know but it seems that with S2RAM it fully works. Do you know if usermode suspend is implemented in version 0.8 (voodoo)?

Thanks a lot. It was quite simple since I'm using GNOME and it has the "shortcut keys" function... big_smile

Re: HP nx7400

Ehm... I noticed a small problem with multimedia keys. When I raise or lower the volume with those keys it works. When I push the "mute" button it seems like the master volume is muted (I checked in the mixer) but I can still hear sound from various application as Exaile! and Flash... what's wrong?

Re: HP nx7400

It seems like the problems is relative to the mixer itself. When I push the "mute" button, it lights up and the volume icon near the clock says the master volume is muted but it isn't. If I click over it, the volume really gets muted!

Re: HP nx7400

- I can't suspend the laptop (either to RAM or to disk)

powersave package. activate the powersaved daemon at startup. it will start hal, dbus an acpid automatically (so remove them from rc.conf). You will have to be a member of power gruop. (usermod -aG power <username>)
then, "powersave -u" to suspend. edit /etc/powersave/sleep if it doesn't work. "bad" modules might need to be unloaded...

Re: HP nx7400

Unfortunately "powersave -u" didn't work. Well, the laptop suspended but didn't resumed: as usual the screen doesn't turn on and the keyboard seems dead (I was in the terminal so I tried to write "reboot" but nothing happened).

I attach the /var/log/suspend2ram.log -- I hope it can help. sad

It looks for s2ram... what package includes s2ram? The one in AUR doesn't recognize my laptop model and doesn't suspend it.

Re: HP nx7400

You will _not_ need s2ram.

Unloading modules: ('prism54 ' configured)

As i said earlier on, edit /etc/powersave/sleep. I also told you a bad module would probably mess things up, so go ahead and empty that "" array wich unloads modules during "suspend to ram". "" (empty) means unload all. I would go for that...

Ok, I've tried again with those modifications but the result didn't change:
