Re: Locale not supported by C library!

the first issue can be resolved by http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Locale if you haven't done so yet .. at this  moment I'm not sure if the second is a side effect ..

you might consider http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Rc.conf also

Re: Locale not supported by C library!

if you're running the install program as root, but running your x-server as a user, that's the source of the problem.  You have to allow your root user access to your users's x-server, I think by running

xhost +localhost

as your user.  (may be off, I'm citing from memory)

Re: Locale not supported by C library!

JaDa

I had a similar problem, when I installed Arch for the second tim a few days ago.

I solved it by uncommenting my <locale><charset> in /etc/locale.gen.

Re: Locale not supported by C library!

@Cerebral
This is what I still get.

[jada@arch-01 ~]$ su
Password:
[root@arch-01 jada]# cd /home/jada/install
[root@arch-01 install]# sh ./GoogleEarthLinux.bin
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing Google Earth for GNU/Linux 4.1.7076.4458..........................................................................
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

[root@arch-01 install]#

@jan-portugal
The problem with the locale is solved in the /etc/locale.gen now!

Still hang here with the xserver and the ati fglrx driver.

Re: Locale not supported by C library!

Sorry for necroing this thread.

For me it was the Locale setting throught KDE which got me en_DE.UTF-8 for Euro sings and a 24 Hour clock.

Setting it back to en_US.UTF-8 solved this error for me.

Settings -> search for locale

This is a more indepth explanation of the problem:

You really think they're still looking for an answer more than 14 years later? Really?

I would congratulate you on a world record necrobump, but we don't celebrate these kinds of things, especially when you knew you were necrobumping. Don't do that please.

Closing.
