I installed Arch this morning. (Best distro Ive ever used BTW... SO FAST!!!)
It has xfce running
I tried to set up wireless, several ways, and I dont know whats going on with it anymore...
Im using a ralink rt2500
some things I assume will be helpful

SSID is correct, as is WEP key (exept it shouldnt have dashes in it, and the case isnt right, I replaced the charaters with asterics for obvious reasons)
The wired connection is fine, (talking to you off it now)

Got ralink chipset myself, and it tends to disassociate sometimes.
Try
iwlist scan
to check if it can see the net (ofcourse the essid has to be broadcast.)
And try to turn off encryption on the net, and see if it works then.
Also check your dmesg, the driver prints information there (at least mine does.)

I just installed wifi radar, and it works fine ;] I assume wifi raday just takes over, or controls everything for me and puts it in a nice GUI.
No WPA though... would be a plus to have it...
