ORACLE installation

Hello everyone!

I need to install Oracle, but tbh I don't know how hmm

I know there's a oracle-xe PKGBUILD but I can't install it, one of it's dependencies is missing (libaio)...

Can I install it through one of the rpm or deb packages they have on Oracle's site? If so, how? And what do I need to get PHP and Apach running along with it?

and i have downlaoded the rpm and tried to put it in the oracle-xe folder before i run makepkg and that dosent work. then i tried to put it in the src folder and that didnt work either

Re: ORACLE installation

I just installed 11g (Enterprise Edition) and ran into a problem with libaio not available...
INFO: /usr/bin/ld: warning: libaio.so.1, needed by /home/oracle/product/11g/lib//libclntsh.so, not found (try using -rpath or -rpath-link)

I downloaded rpms for libaio and libaio-devel (libaio-devel-0.3.99-2.i386.rpm and  libaio-0.3.99-2.i386.rpm) from....
http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/searc … ery=libaio
and
http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/searc … baio-devel

...to my root directory and extracted them using rpmextract.   This eliminated the above error when reinstalling.

I did receive an error during the software install...
Exception String: Error in invoking target 'all_no_orcl' of makefile '/home/oracle/product/11g/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk'

...that I continued past, but the installation was successful.  I was able to create a database using dbca and have not found any problems.  I will edit this post if I find additional info on this error.

Re: ORACLE installation

Hi, same here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=42161 Installing libio the "non-arch" way worked for me. Just like those old "slackware days". Shall we start a fight why DB2 is better than Oracle? Nah, not on this forum :-)

Somewhere between "too small" and "too large" lies the size that is just right.

Re: ORACLE installation

Libaio is in AUR. Works like a charm with Oracle-xe.
