Setting up USB wireless

I'm trying to set up my wireless device, it's a belkin... I'm the at76c503 v11 modules, they compile and load fine.  I'm pretty clueless when it comes to wireless devices, how do I set it up once the correct modules are loaded?  I have wireless_tools installed.  Any help?

Re: Setting up USB wireless

use iwconfig to set the configuration.

iwconfig wifi0 essid <essid>
iwconfig wifi0 channel <channel>

and so on...

just type iwconfig to see if you have a connection

if so, you're "plugged in" and should be able to treat it more or less like an ordinary cable-device[/code]

Re: Setting up USB wireless

I have a siemens wireless usb that I think is identical to the belkin one.  I have tried briefly on 2 occasions to get it to work without success.  If you get it going could you repost with some details.

I will try again and see if I can find what my problem was.  I remember seeing on some wifi for linux site that it can work.

Re: Setting up USB wireless

alot of usb cards have a crappy usb connection.
so you need to patch youre kernel.

I just tried (a prism2 card) with this driver: (includes a kernel patch) and it worked directly: http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php? … _id=326770
