Fascist GDM behavior

When trying to log in as root, GDM says "it is forbidden to log in as root from this screen". I don't recall setting up such a policy, and I believe I should be the one deciding what's forbidden and what's allowed on my computer smile

So would anyone know how to change this? I looked briefly in the GDM configuration files, but couldn't find anything related.

Re: Fascist GDM behavior

There's an option in the GDM setup utility that says "Allow local system administrator login" in the "Security" tab.

I think this is the option you're looking for.

I believe the option is disabled by default since some GNOME releases, before it was possibile to log in as root.
