Hello.
I've got a server running Arch, a static IP and a domain. How can I make the domain go to my server? My network is like that:
Router -> Switch -> Computer + Server.
I tried googling but all I found was pretty much 'use no-ip, lol'.
Thanks,
Dev.

Do you want to know how to route your network or how to assign your domain name to your ip address?

Allan -> ArchBang is not supported because it is stupid.

Looks like you need to do some port forwarding from the router to your local IP address.

Well you point your domain to your static IP (your provider should have some kind of webinterface or other tool for that) and then you configure your router to forward the needed ports to your server (80 for http etc).

I'd like to know how to assign my domain name to my IP
rine: oh, alright. I'll ask my ISP. But is that enough?

Better ask your domain provider.

That is done via your domain providers's page. This should be done via the DNS settings.

Assuming your domain reseller has provided you with DNS as part of the package... Best to get them to provide it if they haven't already
Are you familiar with our Forum Rules, and How To Ask Questions The Smart Way?

if they didnt give you a DNS as part of your package you can use afraid.org Its a nice DNS service.
