Hello,
After posting this topic, I decided to buy a new graphic card
I bought a nVivia GT210 based card, A MSI model: this one
I just received it, I removed my old 7900GS and plugged in the new one.
It worked Out of the box with the DVI display, but the HDMI display does not seem to work.
I tried it on my Asus Computer Flat Screen, and on my Sony Bravia TV, but it didn't work on any of them :S
Could you help me please ?

Do you use the nvidia blob or the opensource driver?

maybe there is an issue with it and fixed in nvidia beta.
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

When using the HDMI output, is it your only connected output? Otherwise it only uses the DVI/VGA output and you need to enable the HDMI output in nvidia-settings. This is at least the case for me using a 9500GT, when I connect a monitor using DVI or VGA and the TV at the HDMI output I only get an image on the DVI or VGA screen, but not on the TV, unless I enable it, when the TV is the only output I do get the image on the TV without switching settings. I'm using the official nvidia driver (blob).

I'm using this card in my HTPC. HDMI video (and audio!) works great. When I get some time to boot that machine up I'll post configs/setup info (if you don't resolve it before then).

That would be ace -- I can get video, but no audio over HDMI on my HTPC with a G210

First thing would be to connect the S/PDIF cable between the sound cart (or motherboard if you have on-board audio) and the graphics card, because the NVidia carts can't produce sound on there own (ATI includes an audio chip on there graphics carts AFAIK). After that you should be able to get sound on the HDMI output by setting the output in alsa to the digital out. You can list the hardware devices using aplay -l which gives me a result of:

In mplayer for example you can specify the device using the -ao argument by specifying a value of "alsa:device=plughw=0.1", the complete command would be "mplayer -ao alsa:device=plughw=0.1 <filename>", 0.1 corresponds to "device 1" on "card 0". This of course can also be set in /etc/asound.conf or ~/asoundrc, which, if I'm not mistaking should be something like:

However I myself am looking for a solution where the audio is simultaneously send to the analog and digital output. So the sound can both be heard using the PC speakers and the TV at once. (I know this should be possible because OpenSUSE did this out of the box)

I have my GT210 in an intel board with no crazy S/PDIF connections going on... I'm using nvidia-beta.

Sound was little harder but Alsa has had support since 2.6.34; I just had to tell it to pass everything through dmix and onto the HDMI channel. This way I can play too sounds at once (and XMBC can crossfade) even on the HDMI hardware sink.

So the news are:
HDMI is working during the boot process, and even after, I can watch a 1080p movie on my TV through HDMI, and that's GREAT
But as RobertMe said, HDMI output only works if it's my only output connected.
Usually, I have my Computer screen in DVI, and when I want to watch a movie on my TV I have to:
1] Unplug my computer screen in DVI
2] Plug my TV screen in HDMI
3] Reboot
That's very impractical
I searched for one option in nvidia-settings but I found nothing interesting :S
About the audio: Currently it does not seem to work, but I don't care that much about that issue.
I would like to solve the previous issue first ^^

"X Server Display Configuration"->Click on the TV->Click on "Configure"->Select "TwinView" and "Ok"->Select the DVI monitor->Click "Configure"->Select "Disabled" and "Ok"->Click "Apply". (Or just leave the DVI monitor on, "TwinView"->"Ok"->"Apply") That should be everything.

I could not apply theses settings, so I had to save my settings in a *.conf file. Then I restarted Xorg and guess what... it works like a charm
Both screens are in TwinView, I don't have to plug/unplug DVI & HDMI cables now that's great Thank you so much RobertMe
Sound over HDMI does not work, but I'll start working on it.
Off topic: my nVidia G210 is GREAT under Arch with vdpau, I'm really satisfied

brisbin33's post #8 did it for me with multiple sound sources on Nvidia GT220, driver 260.x and HDMI only out (no internal SPDIF), Alsa 1.0.23. Great! Thx!
