how to update bios with (arch)linux?
my laptop is Asus s1300 series.

Make an ISO image with FreeDOS, the BIOS ROM, and the flashing utility, and burn it. Alternatively use a USB stick. Boot from the CD or stick and run the flashing utility from FreeDOS.
(Apologies for the vagueness, I last did this about a year ago and forget exactly what it entails.)
But yeah, flashing BIOS from within Linux is really not recommended last I checked. Most manufacturers provide a DOS flashing utility, and AFAIK that's the way to go; especially with laptops.
