after update today, my gnome will go to black screen every half minute (indeed, 20~30seconds), the black screen will last 2seconds.
after killed the /usr/lib/UPower/UPowerd, all are OK again.
anyone know the reason???
I'm using a DELL desktop computer.
if kill the powerd, and manual run it:
after every black screen, I can see follow string on terminal:
"doing the dock refresh ........"

I want to shake hands with you^_^
this problem is so disgusting, I can't use my computer.

Same problem here. Removing upower and replacing gdm with slim fixed it.
You can also replace your vga-cable and use DVI or Hdmi to fix it. Described in this thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=881605

Ok but when I try to remove upower tells me that gnome-session depends on it ... what to do?

Hi to everyone!
I have to remove upower because it gives me problems, but gnome-session depends on it. How do I remove it? Can I remove gnome-session? (I think not!)
Thank's a lot

Check the pacman manual please.

define problems. is an important piece of software and if you force removing that might cause even more problems.
i suggest to start explaining your problem and we could advice, in the right way, what to do.
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

I did not understand what you mean. In small part I know how to use pacman is not this the problem.
The problem is: can I remove the gnome-session or is critical to the system?

sorry do not know why I wrote what has not arrived.
The problem is well described here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=112103.
Two users resolved removing upower. I don't understand why there is this dependence.

i happened to see this earlier

OMFG. i cannot believe my eyes.
do not remove it. first debug the problem, then report it to upstream bugtracker https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug. … uct=upower and then downgrade the upower package.
heck you can even ask upstream on the ml. http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/li … vkit-devel
after that i suggest to paste at least your bugreport number here: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/22586
howto downgrade: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Downgrade

we talk about the same thread xD

Threads merged since they are talking about the same problem...
mario.torme - please do not start multiple threads for the same issue. You were already involved in the discussion of the thread, before you created a new thread. Starting new threads is not going to get you any different answers.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

please guys, report it so we can tackle this in the right way.
between 0.9.7 and 0.9.8 there are 13 commits in which at least 11 counts. Is simple to disect the problem and report it upstream.

Sorry Invisible.
Wonder i will report it soon, but can you give me a link to a previous version of upower. Unfortunatly I have done pacman -Scc
Offline
Sorry isn't there directly in the format tar.xz to give pacman -U?
I feel very stupid

i really gave you in my posts a bunch of links, one of them was Downgrade wiki.

ideally is to debug first and then downgrade

I did not understand what you mean. In small part I know how to use pacman is not this the problem.
When I suggest you read the pacman manual, that's because it can tell you how to remove packages that are dependencies to another package.
Not saying that's the best solution around, but it's a possible one.
