Guest Additions for Arch as Guest OS and Seamless mode

Host OS : Win XP (work machine -- so sue me !! )
Guest OS : Arch Linux 32 bit

I successfully installed Guest Additions, but I still can't get Seamless Mode to run. The option for Seamless mode under the Machine menu stays ghosted. The Auto resize guest display is enabled, and checkmarked (which means its active?), but my guest resolution does not change under full screen or scale mode.

This tells me that guest additions was installed correctly previously. So why does Seamless not work ? What else do I need to do ?

Note:
1) I haven't added rc.vboxadd to my DAEMONS array, since i use the 4.0.4 version and there is no PUEL and GPL versions anymore.
2) I have an ATI card on the machine and I have installed xf-86-video-ati drivers for it.
3) I have enabled 3D Acceleration under Settings --> Display--> Video Tab (2D is disabled) Video Memory is set to 16 MB

I hate it when this happens.

I just needed more video RAM. Setting it to 32 MB enabled the correct option and supposedly it works. Should have done a bit more searching on google.

Having said that, I have other problems.

In seamless mode, I get a distorted screen at times and when it is not distorted, my i3 workspace bar is not seen ( about 1 cm of the bottom part of the screen is just the status bar of the virtualbox.) This is a problem because I cannot see my dmenu which displays at the bottom

How do I get it to work so that the whole screen is seen. Or is this just because of the video drivers? Would installing catalyst help any ?

As of now, the scale mode and full screen mode appear to be a better option than seamless.
