blender error... [SOLVED]

Hi all,

I get this error when starting blender:

[kcy29581@shadow ~]$ blender
Error: Could not open /dev/nvidiactl because the permissions
are too resticitive.  Please see the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
section of /usr/share/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-1.0/README for steps
to correct.
Segmentation fault

The nvidia readme suggests editing one of 2 files which do not exist...

Any help much appreciated!

Re: blender error... [SOLVED]

add yourself to the video group...

as root:
gpasswd -a username

then log in and out...

This seems to be a problem with the post_install process of the filesystems package. A reinstallation of this package would hav added the video group to your box. I dunno exactly what does trigger it hmm
