Hi all,
I get this error when starting blender:
[kcy29581@shadow ~]$ blender
Error: Could not open /dev/nvidiactl because the permissions
are too resticitive. Please see the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
section of /usr/share/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-1.0/README for steps
to correct.
Segmentation faultThe nvidia readme suggests editing one of 2 files which do not exist... Any help much appreciated!

add yourself to the video group...
as root:
gpasswd -a username
then log in and out...

i thought about that but when i tried it it said "unknown group: video"

I've already installed the nvidia drivers fine as well so i don't know what else to try

well I read up now i realised its the video group being the problem, and I did a
groupadd video
and added myself to that grou, restarted and all is well

This seems to be a problem with the post_install process of the filesystems package. A reinstallation of this package would hav added the video group to your box. I dunno exactly what does trigger it

thanks for that. i was reading the bugs list and thought that was it at least its all sorted now
