Earlier today I changed my DNS to OpenDNS via resolv.conf in order til visit piratebay.org.
This worked out fine for some hours until I took out the Ethernet and put it back in, now it's back to the same DNS as before?
Anyone know what might be causing this?

What network manager you are using? Please provide us with more information about your setup so someone can help you.
Also, you may want to search around for an answer regarding this as the wiki is superb well documented.
I assume you are using network manager.

I'm not sure about what network manager I use. I use a wired connection and my WM is dwm.

Anyhow, you can setup your resolv.conf the way you want and after that you can write protect it by using the chattr command so that the dhcp server or whateva won't be able to re-write it.
Hope that helps.

Try using resolv.conf.head: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Re … .conf.head

I don't understand why you should have to change DNS to visit TPB?
Anyone know what might be causing this?
I'm guessing you're using DHCP. You will be told what DNS servers to use via DHCP, so you need to tell your DHCP client to ignore those details and use the DNS servers you provide. This will depend on how you manage your network (NM, rc.conf etc) and which DHCP client you use.

You might also use static ip translation in /etc/hosts. Default /etc/host.conf file orders to use /etc/hosts file first, and then to use DNS from resolv.conf.

@fukawi2
TPB is banned by my ISP in Denmark.
Thanks everybody I'm going to try to write protect the file
UPDATE: write protecting and making a head file didn't work either, it seems now my network doesn't even read these files because now I can't access TPB even for this session.

I just tried to write protect my resolv.conf and I`m using gnome3 with network manager and am getting an IP via dhcp and have setup opendns nameservers and it works like a charm without those being overwritten by my local 192.168.2.1 nameserver which is getting nameserver from my ISP.
That's strange. What are the permissions of your resolv.conf / head files? Are you unable to ping any other domain/hostname ?

You might also try to add -C resolv.conf to /etc/conf.d/dhcpd.
DHCPCD_ARGS="-q -C resolv.conf"
