Ethernet to Wireless connection.

Sorry if this seems a bit vague or even perhaps a little naive but I was wondering...

Is it possible to take my internet connection coming from an Ethernet cable and somehow broadcast it to share it wirelessly.
I have several portable devices I wish to make use of the internet but only ethernet connected internet.

If anyone has any idea how this can be achieve or if it is even possible (particularly on arch) I will be more than grateful.

Thanks

Re: Ethernet to Wireless connection.

Do you want to do it w/o a wireless router?

Well if it is feasible yes. I will be moving to a place which has "wired" internet only. I am open to alternatives though, but assume I have an ethernet internet connection and have no access to the source of the internet.

Not a problem. Ideally your wireless card supports AP mode. If not, you can still set up an ad-hoc connection. I'm sharing my connection via ad-hoc, it's the simplest and more than enough to give my phone internet. But I recently saw somewhere how to set up AP mode with hostapd, it's quite easy actually.

Re: Ethernet to Wireless connection.

Got any links or tutorials? I tried something but no idea if it was right. I have a wireless card which hopefully will work smile
