Hello.
Is there any way to use net-tools and old style rc.conf (it was like a BSD rc.conf - very useful).
It is uncomfortably to configure network like this:
# interface=eth0
# address=192.168.0.2
# netmask=255.255.255.0
# broadcast=192.168.0.255
# gateway=192.168.0.1
Why developers decided this way better than old style?
netcfg is a good way, but I saw enough of comments where users don't like this.
I wanna old style back ))))

no, we have moved on.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

Developers don't really care if users like it.
net-tools is old and unmaintained and was a PITA for the devs so it got dropped.

wait... I upgrade my system a day ago, but it supports an "old style" of configuring way. There is no "old style" examples in rc.conf anymore , but it working . How can it be? Developers make a compatibility?

the old style as you call it has been deprecated not destroyed. What that means that it works now, but there is no guarantee that it will keep working when future changes come through because the devs are not going to pay close attention to anything that breaks a deprecated syntax.

BTW all of this was covered in the related announcement, nearly three months ago. You should try to keep yourself informed..
